Financial Counselor

POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Counselor is responsible for informing patients of possible surgery costs, insurance coverage and collecting surgery deposits when needed. This position is also in charge of working with the cosmetic accounts for proper discount/ payment distribution.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Verify patients insurance coverage (in-network / out of-network detailed benefits)
• Reviews procedures to be performed and verify whether or not it is a covered benefit.
• Run reports to verify insurance payment tendencies.
• Inform patients of estimated financial responsibility.
• Seeks surgery deposit / balance payment
• Follows claim for proper payment
• Work closely with billing / authorization department.

 OTHER

• Follows cosmetic account for proper discounts / payment distribution.
• Billing phone shift.
• Work on aging patient accounts (balance / credits)
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:

• High School Diploma

Minimum Experience required

• At least 2 years of billing or surgical authorizations experience.

• Insurance coverage

Skills and abilities

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Ability to run / use reports for proper quotes.
• Ability to multitask / prioritize.
• Ability to relay information to patient.
