Experienced Medical Biller

Medical Specialty Office has an immediate opening for a Full-time Biller. Must be able to perform ALL the necessary duties of Billing and Collecting on large accounts receivables. Surgical coding experience required. ENT experience highly desirable. The ability to work independently and work well with others. This is a full time 40hrs/week position.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for Audit of Accounts Receivable
• Effective communication with providers and billing office staff
• Working knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Medi-Cal GMC , Managed Care ( HMO ) , and PPO billing rules and procedures.
• Audits and performs follow up on unpaid claims , including investigation, calls, and appeals.
• Answers calls from patients and staff regarding patient account inquiries.
• Performs chart reviews, coding audits, or other coding-related projects
• Queries provider documentation as appropriate to enforce coding compliance
• Provides billing staff with coding and documentation information necessary to process a claim for reimbursement
• Maintains knowledge of current coding guidelines and standards, annual updates, changes, additions, and deletions to ensure coding and billing compliance
• Assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to patient encounters as needed
• Analyze and audit medical bills for charges, billing practices, medical necessity and errors to ensure that they are appropriate and adhere to CPT, ICD10 coding conventions.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum three (3) years of medical coding and collections work experience required
• Two years of surgical coding required.
• Ability to abstract and interpret documents such as medical clinical and operative reports
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, CPT, ICD-10-CM, clinical documentation, and medical billing processes
• Ability to work on several concurrent tasks as well as prioritize workload
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook
• Regular and consistent attendance
