Billing Dept/Mail Clerk

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintain files and records so they remain updated and easily accessible
• Sans EOBs (Explanation Of Benefits)
• Answer the phone to take messages or redirect calls to appropriate colleagues; assigned to phone line to take patient payments
• Assisting with refunds in pulling the necessary back up documentation and scanning completed refunds into Laserfiche
• Distribution of operative reports and incoming faxes on the Fax Drive
• Printing of Medical Records on request from the Insurance Companies (high volume of request for yearly insurance audits)
• Generate monthly N/S appointment letters
• Utilize office appliances such as photocopier, printers etc. and computers for word processing, spreadsheet creation etc.
• Sort and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail (envelopes, packages, etc.)
• Monitor stocks of office supplies (paper clips, stationery etc.) and report when there are shortage
• Perform other office duties as assigned

Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:

• High School diploma or GED

Minimum Experience required:

• Proven experience as office clerk or other clerical position

Skills required:

• Familiarity with office procedures and basic accounting principles
• Working knowledge of office devices and processes
• Very good knowledge of MS Office
• Excellent communication skills
• Very good organizational and multi-tasking abilities
• Attention to detail
